Two thousand people sleep in the CCNV Mitch Snyder shelter nightly who otherwise would be on the cold streets of Washington D.C. They have named the street 'Mitch Snyder'.
Six months after I met him, Mitch died by hanging himself.
I am forever grateful that he gave his life for the poorest of the poor and I dedicate"Ode to Mitch Snyder" to Mitch which I wrote within two months of his death. The number of lives he saved will never be known.
